About Me

I’m Abby, a Grand Rapids–based photographer specializing in authentic, emotive imagery. My approach blends natural light, clean composition, and a documentary feel to create images that are both timeless and deeply personal.
Whether I’m photographing families, couples, or individual portraits, my goal is always the same — to create a comfortable, relaxed experience that allows your real personality and connection to shine through. I believe the best photos come from genuine moments, not forced poses.
My work is rooted in empathy, respect, and inclusivity. I welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds, orientations, and beliefs. Everyone deserves to feel safe, affirmed, and celebrated in front of the camera, and I strive to create that space in every session.
Outside of photography, I work as a pediatric oncology nurse, a role that has taught me patience, sensitivity, and the importance of preserving memories. Those lessons shape my work behind the camera and how I show up for every client.
My life is full, joyful, and a little chaotic in the best way. I share my days with my amazing wife and our beautiful daughter, and we live out in the country surrounded by our small flock of 30 chickens, 9 ducks — including one very loved indoor duck with special needs — and two cats. We grow a large dahlia garden, and I’m currently dreaming up an even bigger cut‑flower space to nurture. We love to travel as a family, and I always bring my camera along; some of my favorite images come from the places we explore together.
Let’s capture your story in a way that feels real, natural, and uniquely you.
